New Adventures heading our way!

Happy end of July everyone! I am sure you are all ready for the humidity to disappear as much as we are. I do enjoy the heat, but the humidity has been a little too intense lately. 

Lots of happenings in the Kalasek family recently. Shortly after the 4th of July we bought a house! Crazy I know....especially bc we weren't truly looking to move for another year or so. Brian is always on websites looking at homes. He finds it interesting and loves looking at market comparisons etc. He stumbled upon a home that looked incredible. He talked me into walking through it just to see if the home was as beautiful as the pictures made it out to be. It was. The home is in Tuscan Ridge (still Elkhorn School District) and it was only 2 years old so everything was already up to date and new. The backyard has just been done last summer. We couldn't believe a family walked away from this after just investing so much into the landscape and yard. They had 5 kids and moved back to Oregon where their family is from so they were very motivated to sell. We went back and forth a few times and finally accepted their offer....or they accepted ours...however you want to look at it. We were able to keep all 19 pieces of outdoor furniture, their hot tub, 1 set of washer/dryer (they have laundry up and downstairs), all storage cabinets in garage, basketball hoop, and fridge. We are such incredible homebodies that this house is seriously made for us. We will get so much use out of the backyard alone that it made it a dream come true for us. We wanted our forever home to be the place where the boys all bring their friends to hang out at and we think this is the one! ..........Now we are elbows deep in getting our house on the market asap. The thought of paying 2 mortgages doesn't sound like a great time so we are trying to avoid it if at all possible or at least minimize how long we will have to do that. We've spent the past couple weeks deep cleaning, boxing things up, and getting it to look at generic as possible for  showings. I'm not going to lie I will miss this house a lot. I think Ill miss my beautiful staircase the most (and my giant closet). This was our first home...the place we brought our babies home to so its bittersweet to move on from it. Our neighborhood is great so whoever buys our house will be very lucky indeed!

We have also had other events that have left us very busy. We went to Greenfield, IA two weeks ago for my Uncle Dicks wedding reception. Dick was married to my Aunt Cindy (my dads sister) and she passed away at the same time my mom was recovering from her colon cancer surgeries. He has since found a lovely woman, Tammy, and they got married a few months ago. They just had a small reception with family and close friends to celebrate their union. Again it was a bittersweet event as you can't go into my uncles home and not feel Cindy there in every nook and cranny. It was also hard for my cousins as well, but at the same time its such a blessing to see my Uncle happy again and full of love. Easton and Ben had the best time playing with all their 2nd cousins, but Brian and I left the weekend even more exhausted than we were before lol. Chasing around two boys in the extreme heat (most activities were outdoors agh!!!!) is tiring!

 The boys are doing great! Growing leaps and bounds daily! Ben continues to want to follow in Easton's footsteps and do everything his big brother does. He is also the most affectionate little man ever. The second Brian or I walk into a room he is running full force at us to hug and kiss us (we are in the phase of the open mouth kiss right now too! lol) He's obsessed with his binky. When he talks he pulls it out of his mouth, says what he needs to say, and then pops it right back in. I know everyone has their own opinions on pacifiers and how old is "too old" to have them. I really don't have an issue with him using it and take the comments with a grain of salt when people feel the need to share their opinions with me on it. :) I think by #2 you kind of let go of the "well the books all say you have to do X, Y, and Z but the time they are ___ yrs old".

Easton has started wanting to stay up later each night and so far we have been letting him push back bedtime a tad bit. He hasn't been getting out of his bed as much so maybe he just needed a little more time to unwind and relax before hitting the hay. He has been sleeping with random object lately. Last weekend Brian took him to the Nike Outlet to get him some new shoes. He slept with those for a few nights. Now he would put the shoes on, walk around his room, take them off and put them back in the box, and then start the entire process all over again unit he was apparently too tired to do laps anymore. When we came to wake him the next morning he was sleeping with the Nike shoe box on the pillow next to him. Last night he really needed his new Nike basketball to sleep next to him. Whatever helps him sleep well I am all for. He is just so funny! He really likes to tell stories now and give us the play by play of his day at daycare. I love these moments of "what did you do today Easton"....followed by "well mom first.....then.....and THEN....." Its so awesome to be able to have these kinds of talks with him.

 Last weekend was a busy one as well. Brian had a lot of odd jobs around the house he needed to do to get ready for pictures (so we can put our house on the market and get the website for it up). I took the boys to the Children's Museum and we had the best time. The exhibit upstairs is Lego's so they were in heaven. Benny would get frustrated bc a lot of the race-car themed parts were a bit too tall for him, but other than that he enjoyed building towers only to knock them down. Easton was very focused on building his Lego tractor (he didn't want a car he only wanted a race-tractor?!) and then racing it down the ramp with the other kids. That place is the best and although going alone with two very active and now mobile boys was hectic at times it was still very fun.

 Also last weekend was my niece, Baylor's 3rd bday. Cant believe how old her and Easton are getting. They are so darn cute together. We attempted to get a picture with all of Baylor's cousins. Good thing there were numerous cameras all taking pictures...we got a couple where no one was crying :)

Hope everyone is soaking up the last month of summer. I am sure depending on when and if your kids go back to school (or you go back to school for all of you teachers out there) its more like a week or so left rather than a month....regardless everyone enjoy your last moments of summer. Although its hot there will come a time in Jan. where we are missing this weather...God Bless!
