FLYIN' THROUGH FEBRUARY

Our Valentine's

I know that Feb. is a short month but I swear it feels like it was only 10 days long instead of 28. We had/have A LOT on our plates this month but as with everything we keep on keep'n on. 

Unfortunately Paxton got a mild cold. With him the mildest of colds can turn pretty bad pretty fast. With PWS he doesn't show actual symptoms until he's a few days into the illness so its very hard to catch things before they get bad. He ended up in the hospital with RSV, pneumonia, and strep!!! Due to low muscle tone he has a hard time coughing up any phlegm or drainage from a common cold and sadly this time enough pooled in his lungs that it caused the pneumonia and RSV. Brian and I had a Hawaii trip planned the following week so to say our hospital stay was stressful is the understatement of 2018 so far. We checked in Monday and were able to leave Friday. The kid is a freaking miracle. By day 3 we really had no hope of leaving soon. His oxygen still wasn't at a healthy level on a steady basis and he was pretty out of it. By day 4 and then 5 he was moving around and back to his old self. No one expected him to come home and recover so amazingly, but as Paxton shows us daily he calls the shots not statistics. 

Since we have been home he army crawling more than ever, getting close to being on hands and knees, pulling himself onto lower ledges, and "talking" up a storm. He's so awesome!

Easton is still loving school....he definitely loves snow days more though :) In fact we had one Monday and when he woke up Tuesday to the reality that school was back in session there were some major water works :) He continues to make us so proud with his heart and how kind he is to everyone at school....different or not he really tries to make everyone feel as if they are his friend. He now can pick up a book and read it start to finish (Kindergarten reading level of course) and loves to learn. He still enjoys playing with Ben and at the same time pushing all his buttons to create chaos. Typical older brother behavior I'm sure. He adores Paxton and the feeling is more than mutual. Paxton lights up when Easton is in the room. Easton will sit down next to him and read to him, play with him, talk to him, and just spend time laying next to him without anyone prompting him. Their bond is one of a kind for sure!

 Benjamin is...well he's just Ben. There's no great words to describe our bundle of emotion and energy. He continues to be our sweet and sour kid. Randomly telling us how much he loves us and his brothers, hugging and kissing us out of the blue, but at the same time complaining 24/7 about things like the lid color to his zippy cup, the fact that we didn't pull out his chair at the dinner table for him, or that he's cold and needs a blanket (when its laying right next to him). He's amazingly exhausting :) He is still hot and cold about pre-school and loves to announce everyone who went into time out at Mary Pat's that day...even throwing himself under the bus occasionally. One thing to be said about Ben...its never a dull moment when he is around and you will burn extra calories from smiling and laughing. Gotta love this little ALMOST 4 year old of ours.

Brian and I were able to take our Hawaii trip and it was amazing. We truly only get away together for an extended period of time once a year. We are so fortunate that we have both sets of parents close and willing to help out. Not only are they willing but they want to pitch in and take turns holding down the fort. Its definitely no easy task with Paxton's therapy schedules, Easton now having school drop off and pick up in addition to Ben's daycare drop/pick up schedule, and all of Paxton's medications and contraptions......I'm exhausted just writing out the day to day schedule-actually going through the motions can be even more tiring. Due to his hospital stay we canceled all therapies for the week we were gone so that took a lot of running around off my moms plate which was nice. We feel so blessed and fortunate to have both families pitching in and helping out. Its so important for our mental health and relationship health that we do get some time away to be Brian and Sam instead of mom and dad. It was an amazing break but we were really excited to get back home and snuggle our three little monkeys! 

We are starting to get baby girls room all ready! I'm type A so the sooner everything is in place the better. She seems to be doing well. I am still going in every 4 weeks for ultrasounds and check ups. She is growing well but still measuring a bit small so we are back to seeing the perinatal specialists for ultrasounds. Nothing alarming but after Paxton anything that isn't "normal" causes me some anxiety....I just keep taking care of myself and praying for her to get her in a safely manner. She's got three big brothers just waiting to meet her. Ben asks me every other day "When is she coming out mom>?" I tell him to hold his horses...we would like her to come in May.....none of the boys came during their original due date month so I hope she is a better listener :)
