Easton turns 6!!!!

Easton could not be more excited about turning 6! The fact that his age now takes two hands to show it off is everything to him :) Although I am excited for him as well I am also a bit sad at how fast this came. The more looking back I do the more I realize just what a "boy" he is and not so much a "child." Yes, I'm fully aware that he is still a child but a lot of his child like tendencies are fading. He isn't as shy around people he doesn't know all that well...he will introduce himself easily.  He doesn't always have to hold my hand when we are out and about (although most of the time he still likes to thankfully). He is asking questions about things much bigger than his age or what he is learning in kindergarten. I love watching him grow but still feel sad that I cant keep him in a little bubble of innocence forever.

We kept things simple this year and let him pick 15 of his best friends and we returned to Pump It Up (bouncy house place) for his party. It was great! The kids ran around like maniacs and wore themselves out which I'm sure all the parents approved of :) He chose all his buddies from Mary Pat's that he no longer sees regularly, his best friend from school, our next door neighbors, and of course his Kalasek cousins.

His birthday was on a Sunday so the following week he was "Star Student of the Week". This means he got to create a poster that was all about him, bring him baby pictures, awards, and anything else that meant a lot to him. This also meant that he could bring a super special item or guest during the week. My sweet boy chose Paxton. Brian and I went up to FireRidge and had lunch with Easton and then went back to the classroom so Brian could read the class a book and then Easton could talk about Paxton and himself a bit more. Having lunch with Kindergartners is awesome. The things they want to talk to you about are hilarious. Walking through the lunch line with our little trays etc. was a blast. We could've brought in our own food but we wanted to do everything just as Easton does on a typical day. His class loved having Brian read to them "Pete the Cat goes to the beach" (Easton picked it bc it had a lot of their "sight words" in it). After wards Easton explained that his baby brother has Prader Willi Syndrome and all about the walk we did for him to "raise money for his doctors". Then Mrs.T opened it up for a Q&A session. This was THE BEST! No kid actually had questions they just wanted to tell us stories about themselves. Mrs. T asked us what did on the weekend and Easton explained that we went to Vala's Pumpkin Patch. The next 10 kids who raised their hands to "ask questions" just told us about how they've been there too lol. It was so fun and Easton loved having us there! He is such a special kid and his love for Paxton is above anything else. Paxton has no idea how lucky he is to have such an awesome big brother.

A few weeks prior to the big birthday week Easton has his school's annual walk a thon. I came up and walked alongside him for all the fun obstacles. He wasn't too sure if he should hold my hand or what the protocol was....but once he saw other members of his class holding their mom or dads hands he was good with it :) I was able to meet his "girlfriend" Hannah and a few other buddies that he talks about nonstop. He really does have a great class and his teacher is exceptional. No wonder he loves going to school each and everyday.

The actual morning of the 23rd we did what we always do on Eastons actual birthday....we fill his room with balloons. He woke right up much earlier than normal for a Saturday with a giant smile on his face. He had been sick with some type of stomach virus off and on the entire week prior so all he wanted to do on his birthday was to go to hyvee for his flu shot lol. You have to be 6yrs or older to get it done there instead of the pediatricians office so he was counting down til he could get it done there. I don't know many kids that actually want to get a shot, but he felt like the second he got it his tummy would feel better lol.

We spent the rest of his birthday at Vala's pumpkin patch tackling as many of the sections as we possibly could. It was VERY hot (which dad isn't a fan of) but we powered through. :) Looking forward to going back one or more times before Halloween.

Easton had a fantastic birthday and birthday week. Im all about birthdays bc my mom did such a great job of making a big deal out of them growing up. Everyone gets 1 special day that's just about them and she made sure we made lasting memories and had so much fun each year on that day. I hope my boys can look back later in life and remember that their mom did her best to go all out on their day and make them feel as special as they truly are. Easton is such a kind and tender soul. He truly cares about people and hates when someones feelings are hurt. He loves his brothers fiercely and is Paxton's true champion. The way he will lay on the floor with him for hours, ask to hold him, can make him laugh like no one else, sing songs to him, and help him with his exercises melts my heart day in and day out. He forgets nothing and hears EVERYTHING. He will lay with me and pour his heart out which i adore and pray never changes. He is all boy yet is incredible sensitive. He's incredible generous and a definite people pleaser. He follows rules to a "T" and makes sure you know if you are doing something you've told him not to do. He makes me laugh everyday. There are times I have to take deep breaths and walk away bc he has exhausted my patients, but that what makes him a kid :) Im so lucky he's my son and so proud of the boy he is growing into. Last year was a rough one but he handled it like a champ. He is the protector of all of us! Happy birthday sweet Easton. Keep being you! xoxoxoxo
