Easter and other Happenings

Life is nothing short than eventful at the Kalasek household these days. The past 2 weeks I was taking care of Brian and Easton who both got the flu, and then Benjamin who may or may not have come down with a case of the stomach bug. Then sadly last week we had to say goodbye to our cat Emma. Now I know people are either cat people or NOT cat people....well i am a BIG cat person. I have had Emma by my side for the past 11 + years. She was with me through some really hard times and even when she as a bit sassy towards others she was always cuddled next to me when it mattered. It was a very hard decision to make and I did not take it lightly. Unfortunately in her older age she had started using our house as her liter box and hissing at Easton more and more (granted Easton loved chasing her around and grabbing her tail whenever he could) We spent lots of time discussing with our vet and this was the better choice for our family and in the end for Emma as well. It was a really rough day and Brian took the day off work and was by my side through it all. Although she wasnt always his favorite family member he was sad to see her go too! God Bless you Emma and thanks for being such a great companion to me!!!!!!!!!!

Benjamin Lately: He is still an eating machine. Not so much a pooping machine so I have to help simulate that act quite frequently. Easton had similar issues. Whatever muscles that are used to actually poop these boys have a hard time maneuvering. His milk sensitivity seems to be getting much better. I know this because I have cheated on my diet a bit in the past and it hasnt seemed to affect him. He still gets up around every 3-4 hours to eat during the night, however last night he went on a 6 hour stretch for me which was awesome. It wouldve been even better if I could fall back asleep at the drop of a hate like Brian can. I woke up around 1am like clockwork ready to feed him and he was still sleeping so instead of falling back asleep the wheels in my brain start spinning and I was up until 3am when he actually work up to be fed. My tiredness this morning can be blamed on me instead of lil Ben :) Although he is still our lil grumpy dude he has started smiling and even giggling now. Easton can get him to smile and then exclaims "mama he smile at me" Usually after Easton gets him to smile he does something like grab his nose or forcibly tickle him and the smile turns into a lil cry. Baby steps for these two brothers!

Easter snacks I made for Eastons daycare friends
For Good Friday my parents, Brian, the boys, and I all drove up to Aurora to spend the day with my grandparents. We hadnt seen them since Dec. which is way too long....plus they needed to meet Benjamin! We had a great day! My grandma and mom cooked a big Easter meal, my grandparents had an Easter egg hunt for Easton outside, and Easton and my grandma played dominoes and made towers with checkers all afternoon. Not sure who wore who out..needless to say we were all tired after such a fun filled day. My grandpa made a comment about how "not many grandparents get to spend time playing with their great grandkinds" which really melted my heart. I am so blessed to have the worlds best grandparents and even in their mid 90's they are amazing great grandparents to my kids!

Easter egg hunt in Aurora (or as Easton called it Aaawowa)

He feels the need to open them all at once and eat everything in side them at once

That face says it all!

Family time is exhausting

Dominoes with great grandma (you can tell she was a teacher)

Saturday night we had the Kalasek side over to our house so we could do a pre-Easter celebration with them (and show off our new basement). Easton and Baylor had a blast together and its so fun watching them grow up together and become such great friends!

CHEEEEESSSSSEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!
Sunday we had an Easter Egg hunt for Easton inside before he found his basket from the Easter bunny. Then we headed to Champions Run for brunch with my parents (ended up being just my dad as my mom was under the weather). Easton clung to Papa French pretty hard when the Easter bunny came to our table to say hi. He left breakfast saying "mama member when we saw the Easter bunny" like it had happened years ago instead of literally 30 minutes before :) We then went to my parents house where he could have yet another Easter egg hunt and get his basket (and open Bens) from my parents. We finished off our day at the park because the weather was amazing! It is going to be a challenge convincing Easton that he doesnt get to hunt for eggs everyday now! Hope everyone had a very blessed Easter and you all are enjoying the sunshine that is finally here! XOXOXOX
